Not About the Sugar by Earl Voorhees
I hadn't realized what I'd done
I couldn't see the path ahead
If only I was more aware
now all I see is painted red
she doesn't love you for your stereo
won't wear no ring for sniffs of blow
we just need a strong portfolio
for a future that can grow
it's not all about the money
not like all devoid of care
but if she's holding back the honey
surely there's no money there
[solo]
We used to live in caves
and the stronger they survived
now we're all just corporate slaves
the higher up the hotter wives
I didn't come here for the pastries
I'm not even staying long
truth be told I feel like writing
maybe put all this to song
She didn't love me for intelligence
wore no ring since ninety-nine
guess perhaps I'd known her better
if not out cheating all the time
[solo]
it's not all about the sugar
parking lot pops fail to sustain
maybe if she were a looker
wouldn't look so damn insane
